La Coalizione dei Governi Organizzati, ormai allo stremo delle forze dopo una guerra che dura da 14 anni, ha deciso di infliggere al nemico un attacco decisivo, ma per farlo necessita dell’aiuto di ogni soldato che sia ancora in grado di imbracciare un fucile.Sarà compito della Squadra Delta, capitanata dall’ex detenuto Marcus Fenix, quello di sconfiggere l’Orda delle Locuste lanciando direttamente nel sottosuolo un ordigno: la Lightmass, creata appositamente per spazzare via i tunnel dei "Vermi".
Il loro primo obiettivo tuttavia consisterà nel recupero del Risonatore, inizialmente custodito dalla squadra ausiliaria Alpha.
